Metro Detroit will always be my hometown. I lived there for 18 years and there’s nothing like the feeling of coming home, even if you don’t actually live there anymore. I’ve lived in Chicago for 4 1/2 years and I consider it to be my home-away-from-home. This holiday season I’m thankful for my friends here in Chicago that really make it feel like my home-away-from-home. While my friends that I’ve known the longest and are the closest to are across state lines and in other time zones, the Chicagoans are the ones that step in frequently on a moment’s notice to offer their love, support and friendship. Without them and their friendship I don’t if I would still be living in the Windy City. So to all of my friends in Chicago, thank you! You have helped make this city feel like my home-away-from-home
